2015 Bocuse d’Or Gold Medalist

The Bocuse d’Or has played a huge role in Norwegian Chef Ørjan Johannessen’s life. With the support of his family, friends, team and commis, Chef Ørjan devoted more than ten thousand hours to achieve the Bocuse d’Or Gold Medal, which he earned in 2015.  

  • Since 2007, Chef Ørjan has trained and competed alongside Odd Ivar Solvold—known to many Norwegian chefs as the best coach.

  • At the 2009 Bocuse d’Or, Chef Ørjan served as commis under Gold Medalist Chef Geir Skeie.

  • Chef Ørjan placed fifth at the 2013 Bocuse d’Or and became determined to return and win in 2015.

  • When not training, Chef Ørjan works under his twin brother, Arnt, at Bjekkjarvik Gjestgiveri—an inn their parents have managed for 32 years in Austevoll, Norway.

  • He is also working on a book with Odd Ivar Solvold that describes their impressive journey to the Bocuse d’Or. Available in 2016.
